Wetland Mitigations

Wetland mitigation surveys are conducted in compliance through the regulatory programs of the US Army Corps of Engineers and state's Historic Preservation departments. These include Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and the National Historic Preservation Act.

Southern Research has conducted multiple wetland mitigations across Georgia, which has allowed landowners to work with ecological firms for conservation banking, ecosystem restoration, and other environmental services.

Solar Arrays

Solar energy is one of the fastest growing renewable energy sectors in the country. Southern Research has worked with multiple third-party solar energy firms that have received tax incentives on behalf of local government agencies to provide a cost saving form of power.

Industrial Parks (GRAD)

Through the Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) program, development authorities across the state can fast-track the industrial and economic development of their communities.

We provide cultural resources Includes archaeological resources, historic buildings, historic structures, and historic landscapes. Commonly broken into two categories: archaeological sites and historic resources. investigations and assessments in order to comply with the certification process.

Department of Community Affairs (DCA)

The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) administers the distribution of federal funds associated with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs (24 C.F.R. Part 58.43). The DCA Environmental Manual requires that applicants for their programs provide documentation regarding the effect the proposed project may have on significant historic resources and archaeological sites.

Over the years, Southern Research has conducted hundreds of record reviews and reconnaissanceOften conducted in conjunction with a records review. A reconnaissance survey consists of a site visit, occasionally with limited subsurface examination. In and of itself, a reconnaissance does not satisfy Section 106 requirements. projects for the DCA, performing site visits, historic document research, and producing a report of findings. Many of the proposed development sites require Phase I Cultural Resources Surveys, which Southern Research has also performed. This allows for continuity and understanding between clients and our dedicated staff.
