Langdale & Riverview Decommissioning

Between 2015 and 2021, Southern Research, in cooperation with Georgia Power Company, conducted multiple investigations along the Chattahoochee River. These projects were undertaken in response to Georgia Power's plan to surrender Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licenses held for the facilities. We thoroughly examined the physical areas of potential effect as well as the visual areas of potential effect, identifying all archaeological and historical resources potentially impacted by the undertakingProjects involving construction jobs, land planning, or resource planning efforts occurring on federal lands or where federal agencies provide funding, issue permits or licenses. Or approvals for projects on non-federal lands such as tribal, state, municipal, or private property..

Communications

Since the early days of Southern Research, we have frequently contracted with communications companies in order to comply with the Federal Communications Commission's Nationwide Programmatic Agreement. That means as the communications industry grows, we continue to provide the services needed for the construction of new cellular towers, as well as transmission lines.

Water & Sewer

It is no secret that many of the buried utilities across the country are aging and were not made to withstand population growth and climate change. Thus, with funding provided through Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), rural communities across the Southeast are now able to update failing water and sewer lines. Southern Research performs roadside surveys in preparation for replacing and improving these systems.
